So I wondering why my new LG TV was so insanely dark?

It's because the EU mandates TV's to lock the brightness to 30-50% of their potential for sustainability reasons aka 🍃 Eco Mode

I literally could NOT change the brightness until I dug deep into advanced settings to disable 🍃 Eco Mode

It's all so fucking dumb 🤦

When I was 17 years old (2016) I built a mobile app called Wordle… it was downloaded about 100k times before I gave up on the project

It sat in my apple developer account, until in 2021 another developer named Josh build a web app game, also called Wordle

Josh’s game went viral globally. A lot of people searching for his game went to the appstore and downloaded mine instead

A lot of other app developers tried to copy the game but Apple removed them all… except mine because it was the OG built before any other Wordle existed

Apple wiped out all the competition. I was the only “Wordle” on the appstore

My little mobile app ended up being downloaded over 10M times in the span of a few weeks

It changed my life forever.

After 5.5 years, today is my last day at Ghost!

Whilst I'm mostly known as the "server guy" on X, I'm a generalist and enjoy working with the entire stack: frontend, backend, CI, databases, infra, CDNs, performance. Give me a problem and I'll solve it.

I've pushed over 14,000 commits to the Ghost open source and internal repositories. Many features, bug fixes, perf improvements and stories will live on in those commits.

During my time at Ghost, Ghost(Pro) grew from 5,000 sites to over 30,000 hosted sites, the open source product was installed millions of times, and publishers collectively earned $100M.

It’s been an exciting journey and I’m looking forward to whatever comes next.
