Day 139 of game dev
I thought it was "just" making the fireball hit walls and enemies...
Turns out there's a lot more to it than I expected.
Maybe it's harder because I'm still a beginner.
...Then again, I think this would be hard anyway.

@WeVennStudios The particle effect is actually a really nice asset I got from the Asset Store.
I finally got the fireball to spawn looking the way I wanted... and then it refused to move. 🤣🔥
So now I'm fighting with that part.
@RussianNotation It usually looks something like this:

And at the bigger festivals, it gets much more elaborate!

We have an event in Japan called Tanabata on July 7th.
People write their wishes on strips of paper and hang them on sasa bamboo (bamboo grass), and it's said those wishes might come true.
I was thinking, "Oh right, Tanabata is tomorrow. Maybe I should write a wish."
@RussianNotation Haha, around here, supermarkets often set up big sasa bamboo for Tanabata, with little wish cards next to them so kids can write their wishes.
I live in a slightly rural area, so bamboo and sasa bamboo grow nearby. I can just hang my wish on the sasa at home. 😄
Day 136 of game dev
Is 8 seconds really this short!?
No wonder humans age so fast...
8 seconds of work went by in an instant.
But somehow, today felt incredibly long. lol

Day 136 of game dev
I checked everything I could, and still had no idea what was going on.
Then I timed it with a stopwatch.
Those 3 loops were exactly 8 seconds. 😂

Day 136 of game dev
I spent the whole day trying to figure out why an animation that was supposed to loop for 8 seconds was ending after 3 loops.
Nothing looked wrong...
Why!?

I noticed something interesting earlier.
When people talk to themselves in Japanese, it often feels like they're talking to empty space.
But in English, there's usually someone clearly present in the sentence, even if it's just yourself.
@RussianNotation I like it! 🍣
I can't really explain why, but there's something about how smooth and fluid it feels that makes me think, "Yeah... this definitely took a lot of work." 😂
