Spent the last 2 weeks backpacking in Kashmir. When I was talking to the locals in Pahalgam they told me that last year they couldn't walk in January because of close to 5 feet of snow however this year, even 4000m peaks are devoid of snow.

The objective of the proposed SARI South Asia Synthesis Consortium (SARI-SAS) is twofold: Synthesize current and recent NASA research on LCLUC to contribute to a fundamental understanding of their patterns and drivers, and translate fundamental science into evidence-based contributions to important climate mitigation and adaptation policies for the region.

@tncvidya The older elephants in particular (Rivaldo and Vinayaka) spent more time within PA's near their release site. The 4th elephant (PM2) had crossed 2 state boundaries and ultimately ended up getting recaptured in Wayanad.

@tncvidya 1 individual in particular (69C5, 13yrs), which was translocated from Hassan to Bandipur moved halfway back towards Hassan and spent more time outside the PA's compared to the other 3 individuals.

I've often wondered if feral dogs hybridise with wild canids....now we have evidence that they do, with wolves. This has serious ramifications for wolf conservation and could turn out to be a major threat.
