Different bank logos, identical pitch: put in $100,000, the bank lends you $900,000, the full million goes into an FCNR dollar deposit, and you walk away with a “risk-free” 15–16% in USD.

The distribution machine is in full swing. Relationship managers, wealth platforms, WhatsApp forwards.

We are in the industry, so I pulled the actual application forms and sanction letters from two large Indian banks and this is what I found.
