New paper out on how energy planners use plans!
We look at something most energy researchers take for given: What is the actual use of plans and how do they contribute in practice?
Its #openaccess 😎

@theEnergyMads@BrianVad@aauenergyplan And to your 2nd question - it is one large storage of 70.000m3 placed in Høje Taastrup. There are plans to expand with more though

Wow - just saw that my paper with @BrianVad about #EU28#heat supply is one of the top 10 downloaded from @energies_mdpi from April - July.
Almost at 2000 downloads!
If you're interested it can be found here - open access: https://t.co/DLUNv3VLWN

@Eurogas_Eu Don’t we need hydrogen for more valuable uses than heating? Plenty of excess heating available throughout EU.
Right that electrification of heating is not the best way forward, but neither is hydrogen.
@ehpabrussels@BrianVad@H2020EE@HeatRoadmapEU @eaEnergyEU @AgoraEW@BPIE_eu@EuroheatPower @eumayors @ICLEI@ICLEI_Europe Our paper assesses residential heat consumption (space heat + hot water). This we quantify to around 2625 TWh final energy or ~3000 TWh primary (2927 TWh in 2015), which accounts for around 16% of total primary energy in EU-28. (removed old tweet due to wrong figure!)
Join in for the @IRENA webinar on strategic heat planning, #districtheating and #lowcarbon energy sources. I will be saying a few words✌️Hope to see you there!
I am happy to share my new paper authored by me and @BrianVad about EU-28 Residential Heat Supply and Consumption: Historical Development and Status
See thread for highlights
Heres residential final heat consumption in the EU-28:

Our conclusions are:
1) There is a high degree of #pathdependency in residential heat supply.
2) We are lacking consumption data, where #smartmeters could play a role.
And 3) we need to limit the use of fossil-fuels in heating.
