@paulnovosad This is sad. FDI is allowed even actively sought for businesses, but policy research think tanks and NGOs can't raise money from foreign resources?
2 useful papers today on how you can get basically any answer you want from regressions using arcsinh(y) or log(y+1)
I made these graphs to show the problem: The mean of the transformed var (black lines) varies like crazy by what units you choose for y

Yes, there is no intrinsic meaning or purpose in your life. This is difficult; it’s also the reason there’s possibility for you. The task of living is to invent meaning and purpose, and then invent it again. It’s work. Much of the time it’s painful. Sometimes, it’s also joy. 3/
Suppose I have $10 and you have $0 because my dad stole your dad’s $5. You need some money to earn income to survive, and I’m willing to give you a loan. Seems easy to see how interest on that loan is just furthering the theft, since you wouldn’t accept it w/o my dads theft.

This is probably going to be sound like a broken tape recorder but for anyone still looking for data and research on the *causal impact* of BJP and the Hindutva ideology in promoting communal violence in India, here's a list of articles to consider:
Surveys have become all the rage in economics research these days. I think with a dash of looking at all we have learned in the CVM and lab/field experimental literatures combined with a pinch of being upfront about biases, this literature can complement well other empirical work
@BMGFIndia@j_floretta@RajeevArora87@JPAL@moulshrimohan@HarvardChanSPH Sebastian Bauhoff of @HarvardChanSPH: “There is huge potential for using routine data like RCH. New uses may work best if they are aligned with the original use case & can help avoid additional complications. It is important to work on timeliness & data quality at all levels.”
Been waiting for these for years. I remember Greg Duncan telling me about this in a walk when we were at @RussellSageFdn together. Such important findings about the long term effects of child poverty.
Poverty is never an excuse for achieving one’s dreams. India's most loved Saikhom Mirabai Chanu at her humble home in Manipur after winning Silver Medal in the Tokyo Olympics.
