@B1OBEY0ND@TheBigTenHuddle@CollegeFBonX@CFBwSam@Moore_CFB So by this criteria you think Wittingham is a better coach? Not saying right or wrong genuinely asking. I actually think Campbell has a better coaching tree and higher upside but both are good coaches.
The fact that drop the bag is even used in the sport is concerning at best and detrimental at worst. Rarely does anyone even use the world “student” anymore when talking about football and basketball. College sports was a means to get educated so you were prepared for life. It’s a slippery slope…
Get with the times. Every year is a battle to bring in the best players for that year. I’d rather them spend money on experienced and proven players than high school players who may or may not pan out at this level. Some people chase bags… some people chase titles. We want the title chasers.
I don’t think there is a gray area here. Don’t gamble on sports you actively participate in. Period. What’s to stop athletes from colluding with each other to alter scores and outcomes in games they aren’t even playing in to make a few extra bucks? Nothing. So in my opinion if you gamble, you are done with that sport. Period.
The love of money is the root of all evil.
One kid yes… but when you have over 30 players associated with the Georgia football program who have been arrested or cited for driving-related offenses, shoplifting, and other criminal charges since January 2023 that speaks to a larger issue. This is a serious problem and lack of institutional control from a football coach who is supposed to helping players become better players and men. Does it impact the sport? Probably not but they have a serious problem that should be addressed and once again the “leaders” of the NCAA do nothing. But then again what can they do because some judge will overrule them while wearing his bulldog pajamas to sleep.
@B1OBEY0ND People need to realize that the recruitment game never ends. Not with a verbal commitment or a signed one. The courts have proven that already. (Duke vs Mensah) the days of getting to know players on your team for 4-5 years are fading. Here today… gone tomorrow.
@B1OBEY0ND I just hope the new luxury seats don’t offset the noise. The current Nittany Lion Club seats are like a morgue at times only being masked by the student section below them.
@ZemiVoid@NFL_DovKleiman We will agree to disagree then. I can tell you that I’ve been a season ticket holder to my University’s football team for over a dozen years… I have zero interest if they were not affiliated anymore. It’s about pride in school to me.
If it could be done it would have been done. The only flawed logic here is yours. How many people watch minor league baseball or development league basketball? Nowhere near the amount who show up at colleges every weekend because those games are not just about the sport but the reunion to your Alma mater.
I think it’s fair. Penn State was closer to a title than Indiana was from a roster standpoint. So thinking that they can take that next step quickly with a new coach is fairly realistic. Now if I was a fan of Northwestern or Rutgers then I’d agree. But for the last 5 years Penn State has been living in “next years the year” zone and it’s time for that year to finally come.
I think you are a good dude who has some good takes. The beauty of sports is that we can disagree. I do think you need to open up a little more to that not everything or everyone one that wears blue and white is perfect and its OK to have high expectations and standards. I think the current path of college sports is headed to a place where it will not only hurt this sport but ultimately kill other collegiate sports. Not holding coaches and player accountable and just saying its all ok is only speeding up that process. But it’s cool man, i respect what you have to say and will just comment less.
@WhiteOutFB So this year there are basically no expectations. 8-9 wins are acceptable. And not next year we can use as a developmental year… but yet nearly every player you talk about is HIM. Two bad years in a row will not fly and get the team the donors you so desperately want.
