In 2012, Musalia Mudavadi walked away from Raila Odinga because he also wanted to be the presidential candidate. But there was one problem. He needed support for his bid. So he approached Uhuru Kenyatta, and a secret Jubilee coalition was born.

The deal was simple. Uhuru would support Mudavadi’s presidential bid. But the agreement lasted only 48 hours.

Raila found the whole thing amusing because, according to him, Mudavadi was dreaming. At one of the rallies just a day after the Jubilee agreement, Raila mocked him, saying: “Msifikirie ameenda mbali, huyo ako tu hapa…”

In Kingeero we have a saying: the phone you give away will one day give you away.

Nairobi has just learned this the hard way.

Late October 2025. A man called Njihia Njoroge does what every Kenyan father does.

His teenage daughter needs a phone, money is tight, and his wife's old phone is sitting in a drawer doing nothing.

That phone was not doing nothing.

According to court documents, when he opened it he found an archive of WhatsApp messages between his wife and a contact saved as "Pastor Charles Office Line."

The number is associated with Bishop Charles Muhia Ng'ang'a, founder and presiding bishop of Mamlaka Hill Chapel.

Njoroge says he worshipped there for over 30 years.

His wife reportedly worked there for over 20.

Now, in Kingeero, an office line says things like "kindly confirm receipt" and "meeting postponed."

This office line was slightly advanced, according to the filings, said:

📌 "Am truly grateful… just know that I love you so much."

📌 "It's why I need you in my life."

📌 "Kesho mimi na wewe."

Kesho mimi na wewe. That is not an office line.

That is a Benga song.

Here is where it gets interesting.

Njoroge did not go to Twitter, like me🙈.

He did not go to the chief.

He says he went to Matthew 18: go to your brother privately first.

So where does a Nairobi man take a bishop for a private, biblical confrontation?

And he recorded it.

According to the transcript filed in court, the bishop reportedly said he had grown fond of the wife, that they were very good friends, swore before God he had never physically touched her, and agreed the messages were "inappropriate."

In Kingeero, when a man says "we are just very good friends" while the phone is on the table, the village elders put down their tea.

Then the bishop sued. For defamation.

Njoroge replied with an affidavit.

And the affidavit brought more homework from that same phone: messages allegedly mixing personal and church business.

Construction cheques.

A transporter here and there.

Transfers to a Limuru account.

Registration of a vehicle reportedly repaired with church funds.

Medication. A steamer 🫖. Procurement limits.

How it ended. For now.

March 2026: Mamlaka Hill Chapel suspends the bishop.

25 June 2026: the church dismisses him and revokes his ordination, citing gross misconduct.

And now the bishop is back in court, challenging his dismissal and reportedly seeking over KSh 21 million.

His reported gross salary was KSh 1,235,934 a month.

In Kingeero, that is 288 goats. Every month. For preaching.

The compensation he's asking for is about 1,500 goats.

As a man who recovers deleted data for a living, I leave you with one lesson:

Before you hand down a phone, wipe it.

Because the Bible says what is done in darkness will come to light.
