@heymrsbond I teach future teachers and explain to them why icebreakers may isolate their students. I’ve tried doing some that seemed to be “better”- tell me something boring, would you rather question, what gets your stamp of approval- but even these can be problematic.

@kasal_finley I’m asking students to respond to the prompts but don’t require them to respond to each other. I’m finding that when they choose to reply to others it’s usually with great questions or furthering the conversation in a positive way. I hated “discussion” in grad school too.

@Mathowitz Maybe thinking about how we know it means that something multiplied by itself is 144. Then reasoning that since 144 is even that the number we want must be even, so there’s two factors of 2 and we can then halve 144 twice. Then we know 2 x 2 x something x itself is 36.

@AdipppSheep This is one reason why I’m hesitant to go back to the classroom. I can’t do the pledge or the national anthem. I have nothing against those who choose to do them, but I definitely couldn’t model it for the kids.

@AdipppSheep Look into a uhaul pod? They deliver it, you fill it, they pick it up. You schedule the drop off at your new house. They drop it off and you unpack. It was easier for me when moving.
