@atatatstat @nephondemand @Gabby_Brauner27 It's a respect thing. My doctor is a friend, but when I'm seeing her as as a patient, I always use her title.
And patients expect to see the doctor every day when they're hospitalized. How is me introducing myself as Dr. Mburu, sitting down with them to give them an update (1/2)

@toughdog18 @Gabby_Brauner27 Because even after correcting them and making it clear I'm the doctor taking care of them, they won't use the correct name/title. But as others have said, that title and respect is automatically given to male physicians.

But i would still rather read the book before the movie. Sometimes it feels like the visualization is a distraction from actually focusing on the book. (3/3)

@adhd_beans Will just "visualize' the words against nothingness/a black background. Sometimes I'll picture a faceless form doing the actions, but unless i assign a character a face (like if i saw the movie before reading the book, or a character reminds me of someone i know, (2/3)

@Korrinie @morganworker @adhdjesse Giving stimulants to someone with GAD causing symptoms of ADHD without ADHD can cause worsening anxiety and/or panic attacks.
It's def frustrating, but it's done for a reason. You go to the doctor to figure out what's wrong and treat the underlying issue, not just the symptoms.

@hearth_taro @adhdjesse It takes a couple to ruin it for everyone else. And its a government body that determines what is a controlled substance and what isn't. So some of this is because doctors have been burned trying to help a patient, and some of this is just the result of federal regulation.

@hearth_taro @adhdjesse Unfortunately, it's not imagined. In general,, a lot of rules are in place because someone tried to do the thing. I remember in gen chem, we weren't allowed to have water bottles or coffee mugs during tests because people were writing notes in the lids. (1/2)

@RozaRebelRouser @Pat_from_scarb @adhdjesse That's not something we choose not to do; I don't think we're allowed to prescribe nor than 1 months worth of a controlled substance. And you need to be evaluated every 3 months by your doctor, your doctor has to run a check to make sure you haven't gotten another prescription...

@StrategicResrch @adhdjesse And I think most studies just show more improvement in performance and mood/self-esteem with stimulants. But after doing some reading, I think Strattera may now be another first-line option? I'll have to look into that further. (3/3)

@StrategicResrch @adhdjesse Besides that, SSRI/SNRIs have a black box warning of increasing risk of suicidal ideation in people under 25. If someone has tried an SSRI/SNRI in the past and had that result, I'm not comfortable prescribing another med in those classes. I'm not sure what Psychiatrists do
