On 26 June 2026, the #DRCongo filed a fresh genocide case against Rwanda at the ICJ invoking the Genocide Convention, CERD, CEDAW and the Torture Convention over atrocities in eastern Congo from 1996 to today.

Rwanda beat the DRC here in 2006 on a technicality, reservations that blocked the Court’s jurisdiction. In 2008 it quietly dropped those reservations and joined the Torture Convention.

This time, the DRC walked back in through the door Kigali left open.

MISE AU POINT DE LA DÉCLARATION INCENDIAIRE DE FREDY KANIKI

La Coordination Gakondo dénonce avec la toute dernière énergie la déclaration incendiaire de monsieur Freddy Kaniki, président de Twirwaneho MRDP, appelant tous les Banyamulenge à se mobiliser comme un seul homme pour combattre l’avancée des FARDC et des FNDB visant à reconquérir la contrée de Minembwe qui, depuis février 2025, est sous occupation de la coalition RDF/AFC-M23 et Twirwaneho MRDP.

Aujourd’hui, nul n’ignore que Minembwe est sous occupation rwandaise depuis février 2025, depuis que les FARDC y ont été chassées par le groupe armé Twirwaneho MRDP de monsieur Freddy Kaniki en s’alliant directement à l’AFC-M23, parrainé par le Rwanda.

À Uvira, Bibogobogo, Kalemie, Lubumbashi, Kasai, Kinshasa et dans les autres parties du pays non contrôlées par la rébellion de l’AFC-M23/RDF, les Banyamulenge vivent paisiblement avec leurs compatriotes congolais sous la protection des FARDC. Cela démontre que le génocide allégué par monsieur Freddy Kaniki est fallacieux.

Vous avez défendu les couleurs de la sous-région et de toute l'Afrique avec une détermination exemplaire, un talent remarquable et un esprit de combativité qui honorent notre continent sur la scène mondiale. Par votre courage sur le terrain, vous démontrez la force et la résilience de la jeunesse africaine.

Au-delà du sport, cette performance est un symbole d'unité, de fierté et d'espoir pour toute la communauté de l'Afrique de l'Est et pour le continent africain.
