MY DAUGHTER WILL NOT MARRY A POOR MAN
——
Bill Gates explains why his daughter cannot marry a poor man.
Couple of years ago I attended a conference in the US on Investment and Finance. One of the speakers was Bill Gates and in the Q&A phase, I asked a question that had everyone laughing.
If he, one of the richest men in the world, could accept his daughter marrying a poor or modest man?
Bill replied:
First of all, understand that being rich doesn't mean having a bank account with a lot of money.
Wealth is first the ability to create wealth.
Example: Someone who wins money from a lottery or playing a game. Even winning 100 million is not a rich man, he is a poor man with a lot of money. This is why 90% of lottery millionaires are poor again after 5 years.
You also have rich people who have no money. Example: most entrepreneurs.
They are already on the path to wealth, even if they don't have money, because they are developing their financial intelligence and that is wealth.
What is the difference between rich and poor?
If you see a young man who decides to graduate, learn new things, constantly trying to better himself, know that he is a rich man.
If you see a young person who thinks the problem is the state and believes the rich are all thieves and they constantly criticize, just know that he is a poor man.
The rich believe they only need information and training to get started, the poor believe others should give them money to get started.
In conclusion, when I say my daughter will not marry a poor man, I am not talking about money. I'm talking about this mans ability to create wealth.
Sorry for what I'm going to say but most criminals are poor. When they are in front of money they lose their mind, that's why they steal, steal etc.
To them it's a grace because they don't know how they could make money for themselves.
One day a bank custodian found a bag full of money, took it and handed it over to the manager of the bank.
People called this man an idiot, but in reality the man was just a rich man who had no money.
1 year later the bank offer him a receptionist position, 3 years later he is in charge of customer and 10 years later he manages the regional management of that bank. Now he manages hundreds of employees and his annual bonuses exceed what he could have stolen. #africawoman

Thank you to all 4,000 participants who joined us for #CHOGM2022. To my fellow leaders, it was an honor to host you all in Rwanda to reaffirm our united resolve to deliver a prosperous, dignified future for the citizens of the Commonwealth family. We wish you all a safe trip home!
This week, Commonwealth leaders have gathered in Rwanda to speak about the crises the world is facing – and I sat down with President @PaulKagame to discuss them, too.
Having participated in the closing session of the CHOGM, I returned home via the Katuna border post. I thank our Rwandan brothers and sisters for the warmth not only during my stay but also during my departure from Kigali to Gatuna. Murakoze Cyane, reka urukundo ruganze.
