@banananasim This part also stood out to me, blacks were not given a fair chance to register to vote. It was almost like society was telling them that they were not allowed to register to vote based on how they looked. #MESelma18

With all the harassment and judgment that King faces, an example is the phone call he received, he continues to encourage others to continue to fight for their rights and never give up. #MESelma18

King, other SCLC leaders, and Selma residents create a movement where they march to the registration office to register to vote. Unfortunately, a fight occurs as the police enter the crowd and the police arrest some individuals involved in the march, including King. #MESelma18

King meets with Lyndon Johnson and asks him to allow black citizens to register to vote because Annie Cooper attempted to register to vote in Selma but wasn’t able to. Unfortunately, the president shuts King down by saying he has much more important things to do. #MESelma18

The Mousekewitzes mice family believed that going to the U.S. (NYC) would solve their problems, but instead they faced nativism, found more cats, and didn't have a voice in the government because they were not registered to vote. #MEAmericanTail17

The significance is that since the Mousekewitzes mice family didn't feel safe in their own home because of the cats they put their hopes into the U.S. to fix their problems, but the U.S. still had cats. #MEAmericanTail17
