Big shout out to our pupils from schools across North Lanarkshire who took part in the World Pipe Band Championships at the weekend.

Although they didn’t win any prizes this time, our North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band have had a strong season—finishing 5th at the Scottish Pipe Band Championship in Dumbarton, 4th at the UK Championship in Edinburgh, and 3rd at the Scottish Schools indoor competition in Kilmarnock.

Today marks 80 years since VE Day and the end of WWII in Europe. Provost Kenneth Duffy raised a commemorative flag this morning, and tonight at 9:30pm we’ll light a beacon and bonfire at Strathclyde Park to symbolise the ‘light of peace’. #VEDay80

Today it was the turn of John Robertson, AKA "The Fastest HT in the 'shire" who said his final farewell to Calderhead & his teaching career. He will always be remembered fondly by staff & pupils alike. We thank you for all you have done over the years.

Today we said goodbye to a living legend, Ms Monica Darragh, who left us after 39 and a half years of outstanding service to the school and wider Shotts community. To say she will be missed is an understatement. We all wish her the most fabulous retirement 🍾
