1/2Deputy Minister @VPHaritatos commended the @ZRBFZIM for its supportive and collaborative approach working with the ministry in impacting 24,534 households to build resilience across 12 out of 18 wards in the district under the #ECRASProject led by @CAREGlobal.

Low rainfall due to #ClimateCrisis has affected levels of underground water in Zvishavane. #ZRBF-ECRIMS is promoting #resilience interventions such as water harvesting to enhance access to water for productive use.
22,192 individuals have been supported & capacitated in boschveld chicken production under the @ZRBFZIM#ECRIMS project. Capacitation in hatcheries management has improved farmers access to day-old chicks so they no longer travel from Zvishavane to Harare for improved varieties.

Meet Sunrise Trading a food processing youth group from Chikombedzi, that has recorded ZAR 7 676 in sales income from freezit making, peanut butter processing and enriched porridge production over the last year.

#ECRIMS also complemented this with a sustainable acaricide model that has seen farmers across 55 wards in Mberengwa & Zvishavane contributing $2 per animal towards procurement of dipping chemicals. As of September 2021, farmers had raised a cumulative total of USD$59, 260
In 2020, complementing Government of Zimbabwe`s efforts to enhance livestock resilience to diseases, the @ZRBFZIM#ECRIMS project established a solarized borehole & a 2km water pipeline that now supply water for 1496 cattle to dip fortnightly at Mabwematema diptank in Zvishavane
through such efforts, we can collectively capacitate women to better cope with future shocks and disasters that exacerbate their existing vulnerabilities.

#YOUTH AND RESILIENCE #thread. Multiple streams of income have enabled, 21- year old Edmore Bara, from Zvishavane to build #resilience. He was part of a group trained by the ZRBF-ECRIMS on social enterprises development to reduce youth unemployment.
Eddie’s income-generating ventures started in February, this year with the realization of USD 210 from his chicken rearing project. To date, he is a proud owner of a grinding mill valued at USD 950 and is making an average of $30 profit per week.
