@DiarmuidBurke@GardaTraffic Though the driver & passenger were also injured, the driver ran off on foot (probably under the influence, car not stolen). Meaning he couldn’t be tested/charged for what was in his system. Had this 🎥 been in place then, his speed could’ve been added to his charge. It matters!
@DiarmuidBurke@GardaTraffic Myself and my colleague were nearly killed on this very road, in the middle of the night, by a driver acting this very same way. He probably thought the same way as you. I for one feel it’s worth it. The M1 is not an autobahn. The horrendous road incidents need to stop.
(AL) "We have a long history of working really closely with farmers and in the main, we find they are incredibly supportive of trying to protect birds and biodiversity. They really want to see good outcomes for these species."

Was chuffed with the invitation to jump on the local radio during the week and reflect on @LMFMRADIO's successful "Ours to Protect" series with fellow panelists @suelinnane and Maria from @BallymakennyF Thanks for having us @GerryKellyLL!
Sean is an inspiration and a true champion for bird life and the wider environment. We are both extremely grateful and thrilled that he has chosen to donate 25% of the proceeds from his new album, Wild Silence, to BirdWatch Ireland. Thank you @SoundsIrish for all of your support!
Anyone visiting #RHSChelsea? Remember to look out for bat friendly features in the #gardens. This drawing from the latest issue of Bat News magazine highlights some of the things to look out for. Bat friendly gardens can play an important role in helping wildlife.
Just got word from our wardens at Kilcoole that we now have >204 active Little Tern nests, matching last year's peak (which wasn't hit until June 2023). It's been a very early start to nesting and it'll be a busy few months trying to keep them all safe! @NPWSIreland@BirdWatchIE
“We learned that all is not well, but there is hope when support for farmers and community is there.
People are key, Continuity is key, Resources are key”
Last week, we hosted a pan-European workshop on corncrake conservation.
What we discovered as a community made up of ecologists, land managers, farmers and advisors is that the situation for corncrakes has reached a crucial point.

Counted over 40 people at @BirdwatchMeath's #InternationalDawnChorusDay event in Balrath Woods this morning. Huge thanks to the group for providing this opportunity for people to come and enjoy a morning's chorus with the lend of their expert ears, and musical talents!🐦🎶

Lapwing can be seen in Ireland year-round but the greatest numbers occur between Sept. & April.
Like many ground-nesting species, the Lapwing has undergone severe declines in breeding numbers. It now red-listed on the Birds of Conservation Concern in Ireland list.
