Sen. John Thune’s daughter, Brittany Thune Lindberg, served as Director of CouncilPAC (Feb 2013–May 2018) and later Vice President, Development at The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (through June 2021).

During her time overseeing the PAC’s development and fundraising, it made contributions to several prominent Democrats, including:
• Nancy Pelosi (multiple donations)
• Hakeem Jeffries
• Jamie Raskin
• Others like Mikie Sherrill, Jon Tester, Katherine Clark, and Sherrod Brown.

The post included LinkedIn records confirming her roles and disbursement tables showing the contributions.

Thune had publicly described his daughter as “gifted” and “an accomplished professional.”

This dropped right in the middle of the Senate GOP leadership contest.

Some saw it as a red flag on family political ties and potential conflicts for someone in top leadership.

Others viewed it as standard bipartisan industry PAC activity.

Thune went on to win the Senate Republican Conference vote and became Majority Leader in January 2025.

Family connections and PAC histories in Washington always spark debate.

Does this kind of thing matter when picking party leaders, or is it mostly noise?

I personally think those ties are showing now.
