April 18, 1861. Lincoln’s offered him the Union field army then being raised.
Lee declined that same day. He would not invade the South.

Two days later, he resigned his U.S. commission. Virginia had seceded and he took command of her troops.

The Confederacy then gave him what the Union had offered.

In 1865 they made him general-in-chief.

Benjamin Netanyahu is heroic.  Israel is a very small country with a very small population, surrounded by enemies -- both terror-states and terrorist organizations.  Israel has a strong economy and powerful military and intel agencies.  He has led the country for a total of 14 years.  There are great leaders of big countries with large populations, economies, and militaries.  But Netanyahu is truly unique in history.  The battle he wages is a battle for all civilized nations, even though most of them are led by cowards and ingrates.  Should he lose the October 27 election, it'll be a defeat for the West.  And our enemies, especially the Iranian regime, will consider it their victory.
