MADE IN THE USA: A new 85MW battery storage facility development could store enough energy to power 65,000 homes for 100 hours during periods of peak demand, lowering electricity costs. 🇺🇸
Another massive battery storage record in California (CAISO) yesterday, March 29 🔋
At 7pm, batteries reached 12.3 GW of output, meeting 42.8% of demand!
And it's not just a short peak anymore. Batteries stayed above 20% of grid supply from 5.50pm to 9.35pm, almost four hours.
The rush to find power for data centers is boosting interest in emerging technologies such as Form Energy’s iron-air batteries, which are capable of storing and discharging electricity for up to 100 hours https://t.co/KMh9GWd5Dx
Today at #CERAWeek, Form Energy and @CrusoeAI announced a strategic supply agreement to deliver 12 gigawatt-hours of multi-day energy storage systems to support the rapidly growing power needs of AI data centers starting in 2027.
The agreement ensures access to Form Energy’s 100-hour iron-air battery technology as Crusoe scales its AI infrastructure, supporting utility growth, insulating ratepayers from cost increases, and strengthening grid reliability.
All battery systems will be manufactured at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV, supporting American jobs and reinforcing U.S. leadership in advanced energy manufacturing.
This builds on Form Energy’s recent announcement with @xcelenergy and @Google to deploy a 30 GWh iron-air battery system supporting a new data center in Minnesota — together highlighting the growing role of multi-day energy storage in unlocking new grid capacity and enabling faster speed-to-power for AI infrastructure.
As AI demand continues to grow, partnerships like these will be critical to ensuring the U.S. can lead in the AI–energy nexus.

U.S. energy storage manufacturing has hit a critical milestone🔋
U.S. factories now have the production capacity to supply 100% of domestic energy storage projects with American-built systems.
Driven rapidly rising demand for energy storage resources that strengthen our power grid and keep electricity prices affordable, energy storage is now a leading economic engine.

Great to see progress from @FormEnergyInc — partnering with @xcelenergy and @Google to advance long duration iron-air storage to help power the future with reliable, affordable energy.
I’m encouraged by recent steps PJM has taken to explore better utilization of energy storage resources. That work will be critical for the region as electricity demand continues to accelerate. https://t.co/NMPKqvdZQc
Why were electricity prices in Texas nearly half of what they were in PJM during Winter Storm Fern? While there are many complex factors, the evidence is clear: building energy storage resources at scale helps deliver lower costs for American families and businesses.
ERCOT deserves real credit for building a battery fleet that’s already providing significant value when it matters most. And PJM has an opportunity right now to accelerate energy storage integration and strengthen outcomes for the millions of consumers it serves.
