After so many years, this work can finally see daylight Proud of the team work & collabs @ZhanwuDai@CantuLab The grape MYB24 mediates the coordination of light-induced terpene and flavonol accumulation in response to berry anthocyanin sunscreen depletion https://t.co/iPSl8Blpk2
To more sustainably produce wine, we need hybrid cultivars. I hope member states and regional authorities approve their use quickly. #viticulture https://t.co/qbaXXkuFjl
Our latest collaborative work reports a strong genetic marker and candidate gene associated with the degree of acylated anthocyanins in grape - a valuable tool for improving wine color stability by breeding

Happy to announce the opening of the lab for grape physiology & breeding @VolcaniCenter, Israel.
We are interested in the genetic and environmental modulation of grape ripening and quality, and breeding of flavorful table grapes better adapted to the environment #graperesearch
I am looking for 2x postdocs to join my new group at @hsgeisenheim . Become part of our team in the beautiful Rheingau & drive innovations for grapevine breeding. Applications close on 31/08/21.

@ZhanwuDai Thanks Zhanwu, indeed! We are still facing a major challenge - poor transferability of these QTL markers between species and families and lack of understanding of the biological processes involved
Excessive malate in the fruit of wild grape species is limiting the introduction of their exceptional disease-resistance and cold-hardy genes to new grape cultivars. We report stable QTL that account for a 2-fold (~7 g/L) change in this complex trait

A big thank you to the United-States Israel Bi-National Agricultural Research and Development fund for granting me the Vaadia-BARD postdoctoral fellowship and supporting my research on the regulation of malate in grape
Noam Reshef's passionate work with the fruit quality team is helping to guarantee that new grape varieties are as delicious as they are sustainable!

North American wild grapevine species are disease resistant and cold hardy, but are too sour to eat or make a decent wine of. Latest paper shows that this results from their malic acid behaviour in the pulp, during maturation https://t.co/W8FhLyplXp
