🧬 3) Lymphoma

Hodgkin / Non-Hodgkin lymphoma
Classically: painless, firm, rubbery nodes
“B symptoms” may be present (fever, night sweats, weight loss)

🧫 4) Metastatic lymph nodes

Especially in adults
Sources:Head & neck squamous cell carcinoma
Thyroid carcinoma
Lung or GI malignancy (less commonly to neck)

Usually hard, irregular, fixed nodes
🦠 5) Viral causes
EBV (infectious mononucleosis)
CMV, HIV early infection

Often generalized but can start unilateral

🧪 6) Thyroid-related masses mimicking nodal disease
Thyroid nodule or carcinoma with cervical node spread
Consider if swelling is anterior neck and moves with swallowing

📌 Clinical clues that guide diagnosis:

Painful → infectious more likely
Hard + fixed → malignancy until proven otherwise

Matted + chronic → TB

General symptoms → lymphoma or systemic infection
