🧵🙏About six months ago I gave up drinking completely, something I thought absolutely impossible and yet here we are.

To preface, I have zero issue if others drink, this isn’t that type of post.

Here are the things in my life that have changed and how I managed to quit:

If this helps anybody great, if not it helps me to share so please bear with me!

Things that changed:

- Stronger relationships with my wife and children

- An ability to set personal boundaries that I was incapable of setting before

- A massive amount of clarity about my surroundings

- The ability to be okay with not being okay (actually dealing with problems or emotions instead of hiding from them)

- A realization that my constant anxiety was almost entirely from alcohol, I have almost no anxiety at all now

- A realization of the things that I do still need to work on (the underlying reasons why I drank)

- Weight loss (about 20 pounds) and physical health to the point that people now comment that I look healthy and ask what I changed

- I’ve begun to and have the energy to enjoy hobbies again (reading, walking, music etc)

- I’ve become more spiritual, started going to church again and exploring relationship with God

- Realization of how many things I missed out on due to drinking (while I was drinking I actually thought if I didn’t drink I’d miss out on life)

-Countless changes I’m probably forgetting

Here’s how I did it:

I didn’t drink. Sounds crazy right?

The first day was awful, the second and third days were worse.

The entire first week was a struggle.

After the first week every week got better. After the first month the anxiety was gone. After the first 3 months drastic physical changes became noticeable. Six months in and it’s crazy looking back, I can’t believe it’s been that long.

Long story short this isn’t really even about drinking. YOU and only you have the ability to make changes in your life.

There’s normally not a magic solution, sometimes you just have to “embrace the suck” to create the new you that you want. Only you can do that.

Willpower you don’t think you have? Trust me, you have it.

If I can do it so can you. Don’t ever underestimate your ability to change your situation.

Much respect to all of you and for those of you really struggling, you always have a choice even when you think you don’t and even when the choice seems impossible.

I believe it’s always darkest before the dawn, and I believe that you have the ability to shape that new dawn. I believe you are loved even when you think you are not.

God Bless you and apologies for the long winded story. It’s okay to not be okay, just wanted everyone dealing with issues to know they are not alone.

We will never forget how you chose the price of a stock over a human life. How everyone was on the take buying stocks for Moderna and Pfizer instead of caring for those suffering. I, for one, am disgusted with this, and to hear you quote FREEDOM is a TOTAL JOKE… Do yourself a favor and hide in your basement like you did during Covid.
