@georgemalik Yep, that is an accurate account of the situation. There is the third option if Larkin doesn't want to sit out or get booed. He can always drop the silly list of three teams.
@georgemalik This is still the worst thing they can do. The trade request is going to hang over the team this season even if he gets traded today. But if they don’t get anything for him it will hang over them for years. They need to wait for the right deal.
@jrdblades@HockeyPatrol $13 million a year would make him the 8th highest paid NHL player. He would be making more than Nathan Mckinnon and Conner McDavid. If he wants to argue he should get more that is one thing, but if he is insulted by that they should get rid of him.
@jrdblades@HockeyPatrol They did but the reason the Flyers made the offer is because they knew how bad it would put the Ducks over the barrell. They will sign Cutter and have to trade guys away to free up cap space but it’s going to hurt them for a while overall.
@KeithKavJr Because they know Detroit will match unless the offer is something ridiculous and the drop off in talent is not as great at d as it is at 1c (Carlson) so not worth paying something ridiculous.
@Wolffman96 I mean if he convinced his best buddy Quinn to demand a trade to Detroit for a bag of pucks and sign a long term deal I would consider forgiving him.
@The_Mexinadian Stamkos is past his prime but as close as they were he might have gotten them into the playoffs. He’s not a great center but he can play center and put up points. Would have been nice to have particularly during those stretches when Larkin was injured.
@313Hockey Guerin or Larkins camp leaked the trade request and losing Larkin blows up almost any chance of the Wings making the playoffs this year. So don't expect the Wings to do either of them any favors. A deal will have to make sense for the Wings or they will wait until one does.
@NHLTradeAlert Who cares. He can stop the Wings from trading him to other teams but he can’t make them trade him there if the price isn’t right. And he has already made sure the Wings have no need to do it quickly so he can wait until Minnesota offers something good or expand his list.
@NHLTradeRumors As they should. It doesn’t make a difference short term if he sits or gets traded but if they take any of those garbage deals they will be screwed for 5-10 more years since we know Gary isn’t going to let them move up in the draft like other teams.
@longislandviper This is why Toys r’ us went bankrupt. Not because the business was bad but because it was “bought” with so much debt it could never pay it off. EA probably has 3-5 years left tops.
@ShepMatt Sitting out while negotiating a contract is normal in the NFL. Now if he signs an 8 year deal and then demands to be traded but only to the Seahawks, Eagles, or Chiefs it will be almost as bad as Larkin (he isn’t the Captain).
@4ever_realistic@DallasStars It means he wants to be a Star. The arbitration process is ugly and often sours the relationship between the player and team. It’s always better to come to an agreement before the hearing for both.
