If Geoffrey's hypothesis that this was caused by human emissions was correct, you would have to believe that they were so sensitive that they detected the first coal fires, but so insensitive that they didn't detect the massive increase in CO2 after WWII.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology's own data, tropical cyclones in Australian waters have declined sharply since 1970.

That drop includes both overall cyclone numbers and also severe cyclones.

The long-term trend over the past 55 years bucks alarmist claims of increased activity due to rising atmospheric CO2.

There have been fewer cyclones, not more.

And it's the same picture globally too. Five decades of satellite data show no upward hurricane trend.
