At the end of this year, RIT Press will be publishing my new book of typographic essays, ”Working with Type: selected essays on type & typography“:

Yesterday members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints lost their president of the past 7 years. One of best ever.
It's too early to tell if the tragedy in Michigan was caused by one of our own, targeted violence by an outsider, or something else entirely. But in light of the widespread divisiveness so prevalent in society today, this timeless counsel feels appropriate to share:
"The best is yet to come for those who spend their lives building up others."
"Anger never persuades. Hostility builds no one. Contention never leads to inspired solutions... Contention is a choice. Peacemaking is a choice. You have your agency to choose contention or reconciliation. I urge you to choose to be a peacemaker, now and always."
Russell M. Nelson, 1924–2025
@alessio_joseph Considering your comment on reaction content and somehow this video found me. It is a compilation of the “best” reactions, just looping through the same scene from a movie, over and over.

@cameronmoll Great news & happy homecoming/returning to the English language. There’s an Elder Bruce from our congregation serving there now. It was also my mission (2000–2002). Elder Hugo Aguirre and I opened El Trebol (South Santa Ana) together.
@JohnONolan@FonsMans In-between options: a pay once, perpetual license that covers high traffic; a very modestly priced monthly, annual, or per-use model. (Personally I’m averse to per-use.)
@JohnONolan@FonsMans I noticed Darden’s approach for handling web/embed combined as AMRUs, as Average Monthly Active Registered Users.

@kyleread This reminded me that “Lost in Space” (1965–1968) was set in 1997. I think it wasn’t considered wishful thinking at the time. Even growing up in the 90’s with a subscription to Popular Mechanics, it seemed like every other issue’s cover was some Syd Mead inspired cityscape.
@kyleread “… the Herculean effort” there’s also a ‘happened to get the timing just right’ aspect to this. I’ve heard so many designers finish a full-featured script font saying never again.
I’m thrilled to announce that LACMA has acquired my set of six limited edition silk screens, which were exhibited in my solo show, ‘MANDAL,’ at ADVOCARTSY West Hollywood in January 2023. These works are currently on view at ADVOCARTSY West Hollywood gallery.
