A tale of two friends.

One will vote for anyone but Abdul El-Sayed simply because he's a Muslim. She's has no reason other than his religion.

The friend will vote for El-Sayed because she wants to see reproductive rights safeguarded, abortion rights protected, and wants to live in a country where everyone no matter their religion feel safe.

They'll nod and smile, but inside their heart is burning. Burning for more depth. More authenticity. They have obsessions nobody around them shares. Things they've gone so deep into that ordinary conversation just don't do it for them. And all they get is the "weather". Who won the game. Politics. Just that rotten small talk. And small talk feels like suffocation. So... they escape. They drink. Smoke. Work until 2 am. Doomscroll till they're so tired that they feel nothing. There this gap between who you actually are and the people available to you. And that gap is one of the loneliest places a person can live in.
