Well, this is a lie. Herman Mashaba has repeatedly outlined his tangible plans for the City of Joburg under Operation Fix Joburg:

Plans for CoJ: Fix the basics with a clear infrastructure recovery plan, end corruption, restore law and order, create jobs and deliver dignity for residents.

Economic development: Relaunch the Inner City Rejuvenation Programme, reclaim hijacked buildings, unlock billions in private investment and create thousands of jobs and affordable housing units.

Unemployment (especially youth): Fast-track business permits, support SMMEs through Opportunity Centres, prioritise South African entrepreneurs and generate construction plus permanent jobs from inner-city and infrastructure projects.

Basic services: Prioritise water, electricity, roads and sewers with planned maintenance, double the pace of pipe and road repairs, and redirect money from waste into frontline delivery.

Climate change: Build resilient infrastructure so water, power and drainage systems can handle the pressure of a growing city instead of collapsing.

Mr Mashaba has made it that immigration is one part of restoring law and order, not the answer to everything.

Persy Qamata and Msizi Mtolo built Bro Cabs because they were done watching that math play out on SA roads.

Their model is simple. Zero commission. Drivers pay a R300 once off verification fee, then R600 a month. Every Rand from every trip after that belongs to the driver.

Their words, unsoftened: when a driver hands over 30 to 45 percent of every trip, he isn't building anything. He's just surviving.

Bro built its safety stack around the reality of SA roads. Panic button. Verified drivers. Live trip sharing. A 24 hour line where an actual person answers.

Big platforms treated South Africa like just another market to conquer and move on from.

Two local founders built something rooted here instead.

No spending all of Saturday golfing. That’s family time. 6 am tee time only, maybe.

Wanna go to the gym? Go after the kids go to bed, or wake up at 5.

In a few short years, they’ll be out of the house and you’ll have all the time in the world for your own stuff. It’s okay to come last for a while.
