being so chronically online has made some of y’all so self-righteous, you expect people to be squeaky clean 24/7, never making mistakes or missteping once
that’s just not realistic

[Exclusive] Kim Soo-hyun’s Agency Wins ₩500 Million Contract Deposit Return Lawsuit… Court: “No Grounds for Terminating the Contract”
Swiss watch brand Mido has lost a lawsuit seeking the return of an advertising contract deposit filed against actor Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist.
According to Star News’ reporting on August 27, the Seoul Eastern District Court’s Civil Division 13 dismissed Mido’s claim that day in a lawsuit seeking the return of approximately ₩570 million in contract fees.
Mido had signed an advertising-model contract with Kim Soo-hyun in 2020 and renewed it annually. In November 2024, the company paid ₩900 million to extend the contract for another year. However, after a scandal involving Kim Soo-hyun emerged, Mido terminated the contract and filed a lawsuit seeking the return of the portion of the contract fee corresponding to the remaining contract period.
Mido argued:
“Since the contract was terminated because the model’s commercial value was damaged, the contract fee should be returned on a prorated basis.”
Gold Medalist, on the other hand, countered:
“The controversy resulted from manipulated and false allegations made by a third party, rather than any culpable conduct on the part of the model himself.”
The court rejected Mido’s argument. It reportedly determined that the circumstances did not constitute valid grounds for terminating the contract, and therefore dismissed Mido’s claim.
Kim Soo-hyun is reportedly involved in other legal disputes with advertisers, including Eider, FromBio, Classys, Cuckoo Electronics, and Trendmaker, involving damages claims and requests for the return of contract fees totaling tens of billions of won.
