If the Cardinals are going to buy at the deadline, Casey Mize would probably be my favorite target. 2.27 ERA through his first 47.2 IP with 1.8 fWAR and above average peripherals (2.4 FIP, 3.72 xFIP). Could slot behind May, and he wouldn’t cost too much.
Didn’t end as well as it started, but it was an unbelievable outing from Dustin May to add to his great stats since the month of May.
3.43 ERA
2.77 FIP
18.1 K-BB%
1.2 fWAR
Who knows what happens at the deadline but all he’s done is impress this year.
I don’t quite understand why MLB is committed to 100% fan voting for All-Stars when all it does is lessen the validity of the product.
The NBA is a poorly run league in many aspects but their ASG system (50% fans, 25% players, 25% media) would work well in baseball.
I don’t think 10 year old me watching ESPN every single day would’ve ever thought I’d hear my name mentioned on ESPN in the next 8 years, but it is pretty cool.
Tink Hence's final line:
1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
Hence looked as sharp as he has in quite some time. He consistently sat around 95 MPH on his four-seamer and generated 3 whiffs on the pitch (75% whiff rate).
