🦁🌞GM~ issue 2 of Voices of Iran is now at a CLOSE! Artwork is due today and some folks have an extension. I’m very excited to release this incredible body of work to you all and to continue this project. I know there is a lot of fear with the Iranian government cracking down on people speaking out. I anticipate things being slower for issue 3 because of this, and am prepared to be patient. This project is not something that can be rushed. This project is beyond important 🔥 it’s more than a zine, it’s a documentation of the people under a regime who are told to be silent. With this zine, voices are heard. Voices are reaching the people who need to read it. I will continue this pursuit as long as I can 🙏🏻

Gm~ I want to share that I had an amazing 45 min phone call last night with someone who found Voices of Iran through my website(?!) and wants to connect me to Iranian family members! I opened the conversation about NFTs and hopefully I’ll be onboarding people into our community! I’m so happy that this project is branching out. This is my exact goal with the project! If I can continue to reach people like this, it will be a dream come true 🙏🏻

I’ve been working on some digital art pieces following (now behind - oh well) the BadTober daily prompt challenge while I await people’s art submissions for Voices of Iran issue 2! These are some of the highlights. I trace things to make it easier for me and more efficient but I meticulously paint everything in. I feel like tracing might be a cop-out or it turns people off with the process and sometimes it makes me really self conscious. Am I being a real artist? Even so, I do love some of these creations regardless of the process. I hope you like them too 🙏🏻

Gm~ the reason you haven’t been hearing from me is because I’ve been busssssy 😮‍💨 There are people who received extensions for Voices of Iran artwork and I’m waiting on those. In the meantime, I will be writing a preface and I will need to go through the editing/proofing phase of the zine. Thank you all for being patient with me!! I have been doing a lot of this zine myself, and that’s not to drag my team down at all, but more to say I’ve taken on this whole thing which is why it is moving a little slow 🙏🏻

It is a lot! But I’m glad I’m doing it. It’s hard and it’s heavy to read and hold all of what has been submitted. It feels like I’m the keeper of something that could shape how the world views Iran, yet it’s very unfortunate I don’t have the ability to currently reach the masses. One day, this will become a full book I hope.
