Not sure why so many people, including members of the media, are hesitant to accept the concept of a public military firing squad for convicted Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan.

It's not like hanging someone from a hydraulic construction crane where the condemned person stands on a small platform in a public square or stadium, with a rope tied around their neck and a crane operator uses the hydraulic arm to hoist the person high off the ground into the air, which typically results in death by strangulation and the deceased body remains hanging and swaying in the wind for a few hours.

Each year, death row inmates in the US are executed by lethal injection; however, this method sometimes fails due to difficulties such as finding usable veins, collapsed veins, chemical line blockages, and procedures that can last for several hours and in some rare cases don't work (for example Christa Pike).

Additionally, prior to 2009 when all states transitioned to lethal injection, inmates were executed via electrocution which was seen as inhumane and sometimes resulted in severe burning, disfigurement, or prolonged suffering when the electrical current failed to cause immediate death.

Supporters also note that, when properly administered by trained military personnel, shooting is historically regarded as "mechanically straightforward" compared to failing multi-drug or electrical equipment.

Furthermore, it will cost taxpayers a small fraction compared to the cost of an inmate on death row, which runs about $700K to $2.1 million (or more) per inmate to prosecute a capital case, maintain the offender on death row, and execute them years later.

Let's not forget that Nidal carried out a mass shooting at Fort Hood, where he killed 14 people (including an unborn baby) and wounded 32 others while shouting "Allahu Akbar." He acted out of radical Islamist beliefs and strong opposition to U.S. military deployments to Muslim-majority countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.
