1) Chiefs Leeb & Goldfeder on the importance of Chief Officers knowing what they are doing on the fireground. Not the task-oriented stuff necessarily but the big picture stuff that will keep the members safe & operating effectively.
I believe I saw this on the "Bravest Stories" page on Facebook. Retired FDNY FF Joe Higgins with a great life lesson: A productive day is a day when you help someone out, and when you help others, you help yourself.
33 years today.
On February 26, 1993, the first attack on the World Trade Center claimed the lives of seven innocent people and injured more than 1,000 others.
We remember the victims, honor their families, and recognize the courage of our members and all first responders
I don’t even follow hockey, but this got me emotional 😢
They brought their late teammate’s kids (killed by a drunk driver) onto the ice in his jersey to celebrate.

On January 18, 2026, Veteran Marine Michael Ryan Burke was taken from this world in an act of senseless violence in Columbia, Missouri. What began as a simple Facebook Marketplace sale turned into a robbery that cost him his life.
In his final moments, he showed the same courage and clarity that defined him, calling 911 to describe the suspects and sending one last message to his mother and sister: “I’m dying and I love you.”
Michael was more than a Marine. A University of Missouri graduate in psychology and sociology, a Force Recon Staff Sergeant with combat experience, a Columbia firefighter, a pastor, and a missionary who served in Uganda, Haiti, and Iraq. He fought against human trafficking and dedicated his life to protecting and serving others.
Those who knew him said he always put others first. That was who he was.
Rest easy, Marine. 🇺🇸
In 2007, Navy SEAL Mike Day was shot 27 times by four Al Qaeda gunmen and hit by grenade shrapnel. He killed all four of the gunmen and walked to the extraction helicoptor.
Mike sadly passed away due to suicide in 2023. We owe these Veterans the best life and help.
Friday marks 21 years since four firefighters died in two separate fires. The day came to be known as “Black Sunday.”
On January 23, 2005, six firefighters were forced to jump from a fourth-floor window after being trapped by fire in an illegally converted Bronx apartment. Lt. Curtis Meyran of Battalion 26 and Lt. John Bellew of Ladder Company 27 died that day of their injuries. Lt. Joseph DiBernardo of Rescue 3 succumbed to injuries from this fire on November 22, 2011. Firefighters Jeff Cool, Eugene Stolowski, and Brendan Cawley suffered life-threatening injuries.
That same day, Firefighter Richard T. Sclafani of Ladder Company 103 died while fighting a 2-alarm fire in East New York, Brooklyn. He was a 10-year veteran of the FDNY.
The FDNY will never forget them.
