Ontario farmers are urging the federal government to pause the proposed Alto high-speed rail project, warning it could have permanent impacts on some of Canada’s most productive farmland.
"This is bigger than a rail line. Once prime farmland is lost, we cannot replace it so protecting the land that feeds Canadians must be part of any discussion about major infrastructure projects. Many farmers along the proposed corridor feel they have not been adequately consulted despite the project's potential long-term impacts on their farms and communities," @drew_spoelstra , OFA President.

Get ready for another round of proposals for erratic, low power density industrial wind turbines in Ontario by reading @pwrhungry essay on power density, reposted today. @IESO_Tweets to launch new RFP soon. #windturbines#windpower#onpoli#electricity https://t.co/NhPBuotEKO
Fact: wind turbines are a low power density source of electricity, i.e., use a lot of land for little return. IESO about to open a new RFP. Ottawa does not need erratic, out of phase w demand, low density wind power. #ottcity@hydroottawa@_MarkSutcliffe https://t.co/HvD1Cn0zVY
Ottawa's "culture of secrecy" documented by The Bulldog @KenGray
For example, Ottawa signed an NDA with rail developer Alto, despite concerns about this $90B project. #ottcity#Alto
Ottawa has signed the Non-Disclosure Agreement or NDA with developer Alto. The one other municipalities refused to sign because of lack of transparency and respect. Guess that won't be on the Engage Ottawa page. #ottcity@MeehanCarolAnne@PoliticsOttawa Thanks @Mike__Patton
@KenGray The United Counties of Prescott Russell REFUSED to sign that NDA saying it demonstrated a lack of transparency, and respect for the public. #ottcity
This World Environment Day, we emphasize the importance of preserving Ontario's farmland to ensure our farmers can continue to fill plates worldwide for generations to come.
Did you know Ontario loses thousands of acres of farmland every year to development? This trend is concerning, jeopardizing food sovereignty and Ontarians access to homegrown food.
The food on your table needs farmland to grow. You can help preserve farmland by sourcing local food and farm products. Every local purchase helps the future of food in Ontario and supports rural communities.

Tonight Mrs Higgy made me 2 lots of scrambled eggs on toast in an attempt to disprove the Sainsburys claim that "brown eggs cause climate change".
The first plate she served up was made with white shelled eggs.
I consumed them in a room where the temperature was 20.2°. When I'd finished, the room was still at 20.2°.
The second plate, made with brown eggs, was more interesting. Served again in a room at 20.2°.
But..... by the time I'd barely eaten half of it the room temperature had already risen to 26.7°, there was a hurricane blowing in under the door, the carpet had turned to sand, the road outside the house began to flood and Chris Packham was banging on the door and calling me an "evil climate change denier".
I reassured Chris that Mrs Higgys experiment had proven beyond all doubt that brown eggs cause catastrophic changes to the global climate and he returned home relatively happy that the science had been on his and Sainsburys side on this particular occasion.
The multi-billion-$ wind power lobby is pushing "agrivoltaics" (farming and turbines, also solar panels co-exist) as a way to avoid rules about using farmland. Here's a caution: farm pollution following blade failure/shatter in Australia 2 weeks ago. #ottcity@OntarioFarms
Ontario farmers are proud to dedicate their livelihoods to growing high-quality food and farm products that nourish their communities, province, country, and the world.

A U.K. grocery chain has stopped selling brown eggs because they have a larger "carbon footprint". Truth: shell colour depends on the breed of chicken. The world has gone mad. #carbon#climatechange#eggs#farming
This is the sort of moronic policy that results from the infiltration of almost all levels of 'leadership' by people captured by the 'liberal' agenda that has slowly been destroying our society and way of life for decades.
These clowns actually believe that cows belching and chickens laying brown eggs are things we need to worry about. Meanwhile they are more than happy to offer aisle after aisle of processed garbage, seed oils, sweets, alcohol, non-organic produce, and fruit and veg that have been transported from thousands of miles away.
The 'carbon' scam is one that arguably generates the most lunacy, and here we have a perfect example.
Well done @sainsburys ... you've fallen for it. 🤦♂️
Since 2020, Germany has added 14 gigawatts of wind capacity, but annual electricity output has stayed around 106 terawatt-hours.
More turbines, no more electricity.
Die Welt says the system is hitting reality: weak winds, grid bottlenecks, and poor inland sites, with some turbines actually shading (or blocking) others.
Then solar joins the mess.
On sunny days, solar floods the grid, so wind gets curtailed. At peak output, solar gets curtailed, too.
Too much power at the wrong time.
Then evening arrives, or thick cloud rolls in, and solar collapses. So gas and coal step back in to save the lights from going out.
Fossil fuels come to Germany's rescue every evening.
Billions of dollars spent on more hardware.
But output has remained flat.
Want to ‘save the planet’? Support farmers.
🚜 The real environmentalists.
🚜 The providers of our food.
🚜 The cultivators of our green and pleasant land.
No farmers, no food. No farmers, no beautiful countryside.
