Very happy to announce that entries are now being accepted for the 2023 Northumbria Masters, 24-28 August at our redesigned website: https://t.co/Umg5xdGFav

@DanielKingChess You quoted Ding Liren as calling Ra2!? a ‘cannonball’ move. I think this is a reference to Chinese chess (Xiangqi) where as well as Rooks there are Paos (Cannons) which fire like X-Rays over the heads of the next piece. Ra2 has an X-Ray quality to it :) @FIDE_chess
@dgriffinchess The London System is named after the London tournament (31/7-19/8/1922) where it was played as a solid alternative to main lines with 1 d4, 2 c4 in the later rounds.
Great to see so much chess happening around the UK this Easter. Round 5 of @4NCL congress sees old rivals Hebden & @Atomrod on top board, @GMJSChr leads @adamraoof's Southend Open with 5/5, where Ameet Ghasi has 5/7 in the GM norm, and Daniel Kozusek has 4/4 @WelshChessUnion Ch!
1/3: EJCOA is delighted to have completed our first @FIDE_chess Trainers Seminar (September 3-5) as co-organiser with Peter Long of the FIDE Trainers Commission, with a total of 61 trainers taking part in the course. Thanks to EJCOA Chair Rob Willmoth for organising & @ECF_Chess!
