While we understand that there must be trials, we always knew smart drum lines were not going to be the answer. We will continue to advocate for signs at beaches advising of sharks being spotted and/or ocean activity that may attract sharks to the beach
Mako shark reportedly caught today by Port Hacking Game Fishing Club, Australia.
Despite being legal, with 70% of wildlife lost since 1970 and makos now classed as endangered, the selfishness and irresponsibility of killing this animal is all but criminal https://t.co/LaDnIXXjRP
Key lines from RecFishWest statement (3/3):
"Minister Tinley has recently advised Recfishwest that he is broadly supportive of our recommendations and that he has directed DPIRD to begin drafting amendments to the Fish Resources Management Regulations."
Our good friends over at @hsiaustralia and @AustMarConsSoc are also running a campaign against WA's proposed shark slaughter.
Please complete theirs too:

WATCH: A draughtboard shark was rescued by 11-year-old Billie Rae near Australia's Kingston Beach. The shark had become stuck between rocks before it was set free.
We love mentoring this passionate shark lover to understand some of the impacts of shark fishing, what’s can be done and what already has been done. Extremely proud of Kian, who has taken this knowledge and presented to his school on this topic. Well done Kian 💪

Sharks are a integral part of the ocean. We need to expect they they will there and 99.9999% of the time will show no interest in interacting with humans.
As expected, @MarkFurnerMP puts politics over people yet again.
Defending the politically safe option (shark culling), over the option that would finally improve swimmer safety (modernisation), is beyond disappointing.

We just finished more UAV training, this time for the Central Coast Council NSW Lifeguards. Look out for the drones on the beach this summer! #slsnsw#auav
BREAKING: The QLD Government announced that they will trial drones at Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and North Stradbroke Island beaches.
We welcome this step in the right direction for beach safety.
All parties must commit to non-lethal solutions.

Groundhog day. These #shark nets went back in the water 2 weeks ago after being removed for #whaletail migration season in NSW.
NSW utilises drones & SMART drumlines, these nets didn't have to go back in... https://t.co/UetrfD2WBD
This happens every day in Australia.
Been happening since 1937 in NSW and 1962 in QLD.
It’s being documented today because the news choppers are out in force follow the tragic bite.
Time for REAL SOLUTIONS, not this BS.
