Not sure if it’s just me but I’m ready for the Tom Holland Spider-Man era to end, he’s by far the worst of the three, and 2 of the 3 films so far have been extremely average
It’s the fact that they thought about casting Mads Mikkelsen and then decided against it because he played Kaecilius in Doctor Strange (a role that I’m sure not many remember) and then went to cast RDJ who was basically the face of the Avengers. Fuckwits. Utter Fuckwits.
In 2000, Rebecca Romijn's call time was midnight so cameras could roll at 9am. Becoming Mystique took 9 hours, around 100 individual silicone prosthetics covering 60% of her body, and hand-painted blue over the rest. Removal took another 2 hours. That's 11 hours of makeup wrapped around every shooting day.
The first film's contact lenses left her nearly blind, so she had to fight choreographed battles she couldn't actually see. They moved the yellow eyes to post-production for X2. The paint transferred to everything she touched. The crew always knew when she'd used the bathroom because the toilet seat turned blue.
Over three films the team compressed the process from 9 hours to 6. Then Jennifer Lawrence inherited the role, developed skin reactions to the paint, and the studio cut it to 3 hours with a partial bodysuit. Each generation of Mystique traded a little of the look for a lot of the labor.
Which explains the reaction to today's reveal. The version fans keep holding up as the definitive Mystique is the one that was too brutal to keep producing. The 2006 look wasn't a design choice anyone abandoned for creative reasons. It was an 11-hour daily industrial process that only existed because one actress agreed to live inside it.
Romijn put it best herself: the makeup was the job. "The acting was free."
Sylvester Stallone worked for pennies on Cop Land (1997). Desperate to be taken seriously as a dramatic actor again, he took the SAG minimum salary of just 60,000 dollars, a massive drop from his usual 20 million dollar action paycheck.
The first trailer for ‘I PLAY ROCKY’ has been released.
The film follows a young Sylvester Stallone & the dramatic journey it took to get ‘ROCKY’ made.
In theaters on November 20.
