Kevin O'Leary explains the insane reality of finding a 160 million dollar original Picasso hanging above a toilet.
During a formal lunch at a castle, he found an original oil painting right over the sink. The owner told him her husband used to buy a painting a week for "500 francs whatever it took for his girlfriend and him to pay their rent" because Picasso was broke.
He points out the crazy math of holding "the piece uniques" over time. Buying direct from Picasso back then for hundreds of francs turned into an asset where "That thing's worth 160 million bucks now."
He notes that securing "that original Picasso oil or the original oil Warhol" is where the real money is made.
When you hold those unique assets, "Even though you paid $10 million for it it's gonna worth be worth 25 million 10 years later."

I built Cella because I kept watching real culture disappear without a proper record.
I have been a full-time artist in Dallas for 13 years.
I have painted murals, made sculpture, opened a gallery, collected work, installed shows, and watched important physical culture vanish faster than it could be properly recorded.
Murals get painted over.
Artists get miscredited.
Gallery shows come down and disappear into old Instagram posts.
Public art exists in the real world, but the record around it is usually scattered, incomplete, or gone.
That problem kept showing up in my own life.
As an artist, I wanted the work to stay connected to place and authorship.
As a gallerist, I needed a cleaner way to organize artists, artworks, spaces, exhibitions, and provenance.
As a collector, I wanted cultural context that did not disappear when the show ended.
As someone who cares about cities, I wanted Dallas and every other city to have a real cultural record.
So I built Cella.
Cella is a cultural operating system for real-world art.
It records murals, galleries, installations, exhibitions, artists, and cultural spaces with location, attribution, images, history, and provenance.
Not as a feed.
Not as another discovery app.
As infrastructure.
A durable record for the culture that exists offline.
The goal is simple:
When something meaningful is created in the real world, it should not disappear without a trace.
Artists deserve attribution.
Cities deserve cultural memory.
Collectors deserve context.
The future deserves a record.
