@davisjedwards@OrthodoxPole81 I will say this photo is not originally in color. Any time you see an old photograph and it looks weirdly blue and pink like this, it's from older colorization AI websites, although newer isn't much better at it as well.
@RadiantCoco@dvamonster@LadyAuro_ Seriously as a girl, maybe the only one you'll ever talk to in this pity comment section, nobody is dating you let alone making eye contact with you. Get a life.
@the_jess_who@RepAugie 2nd image is just AI (far before the recent boom) colorization :)) it usually makes clothes blue purple and uneven skin tones with pink are obvious indicators for it
@BillysTourism Pro tip : look up japanese kimono smell cleaning, those bad boys are stored with mothballs for 80 years I *promise* you the smell can come out, it sometimes takes multiple days of sitting in the sun.
I think we're underestimating the amount of kids on social media who are lying about their age, like all of Gen Z did it why are acting like the next isn't either...? Just a thought when conversing with someone who seems a bit uneducated..
@SirWSidneySmith@DissidentFrau Tbh I just use loose cotton/linen shorts, I don't mind the usage of elastics or the typical stretch you get from athletic wear, but since I'm not doing anything too crazy as long as it's comfortable and washable it's good to me it took me some time to find what worked
@allie__voss As renting a normal apartment or mortgage on a house, as I experience this, we are choosing to buy a home rather than continue to live in these, circumstances of this working in its current state, it's making it hard to justify. I only wish they actually make this affordable.
@allie__voss It's not as many "poor" people as you think, seniors take a majority of the parks around Florida. Many many communities that are affordable are 55+, 0 kids allowed, and pet restrictions. Which means as a family, you often are forced to pick "family communities" which are as high
@LumpySpaceTaco@lancey3k@U5er_Error@Nick_Marseil We're on about your weird thought process here... It's Costco... Of course it has a membership... And of course if you have a Costco membership, you're using it, often, which means you've already make your membership fee back 10 fold...
@SirWSidneySmith@DissidentFrau Yes my go to is normal athletic shorts. Unfortunately some girls are mislead literally about having your legs in two seperate tubes of fabric makes it less modest than potentially being upskirted 90 times by a skirt
“I received a blessing from my priest to paint icons” is something I hear quite often.
You do not need a formal blessing to begin painting icons. You’re not a monastic, you’re a layperson. Feel free to speak with your priest about it, just as you might speak with him about any worthwhile pursuit, but you do not need official permission to begin learning or practicing iconography.
Yes, there are prayers and written blessings that some jurisdictions have for those wishing to pursue learning to paint iconography. That said, these practices are not some pan-Orthodox requirement. They are blessings, not ordinations, and it’s important to understand this.
What may require ecclesiastical approval is the use of your work within the liturgical life of the Church, whether as mural iconography, panel icons intended for veneration, or other sacred imagery installed in a parish. Even here, the amount of oversight varies considerably depending on the jurisdiction, the ruling bishop, the archdiocese, and the local parish.
I am not suggesting that speaking with your priest is unnecessary or unimportant. What I am pushing back against is this assumption that the iconographer is some kind of informal sacramental office within the Church. This is a road to delusion and ALOT of problems.
Painting iconography does carry with it particular additional spiritual responsibilities and expectations, as it is a sacred art undertaken in service to the church. It’s very important however to not approach iconography as though it were some kind of mystery cult, an esoteric discipline, or a martial art requiring initiation before beginning.
If you want to paint icons, paint icons. Ask the advice and blessing of your priest if you wish. Just be careful not to confuse pastoral guidance and with an ecclesiastical “imprimatur”.
