This is the true dystopia. A bunch of boomers in government, and unelected 3-letter agency goons having the power to prevent you from using software, or accessing data.

Don't let the false equivalencies fool you. Models are just data. Bytes in, bytes out. The idea that some guy running a model in his basement is going to develop a bio weapon is legitimately, insanely stupid. "Claude, make me a deadly virus, make no mistakes."
It is not the lack of knowlege today that prevents anyone from doing unimaginable harm to others. Having a recipe to build a nuke, isn't going to suddenly make you or even a moderately well-funded organization capable of building a nuke.
For example, you could source every raw component today required to build a GPU. Is it the lack of knowledge that prevents someone from doing so?
