@40Parks @DaveDejmal How many acres do you need to farm in Hawaii to justify shipping your equipment there? My wife would definitely not complain about going along for harvest.

@gwiesefarms @silagechopper I never understood the "it's not a real farm of your wife works off the farm" attitude. Most blue collar families the wife works too, it's just the way economics are today.

@clintwfischer Anything that reduces labor (primarily larger equipment) is going to decrease the number of farms. Having lots of $15/hour work to do isn't going to keep the next gen around either. I think biggest opportunities are operating efficient equipment, and direct sales of farm products

@clintwfischer If you're upgrading as opposed to buying a piece you don't already have, isn't your trade-in going to be significantly discounted as well?

@RickBieber81 @Bkitch1Bodie I want to believe this but my worst ground is ground that low (or no) input hay guys farmed before me. Way low on k and yields show it. How do you solve this without k?

@dane_berggren Occasionally spray for someone who does it that way. Sprayed a guy last week who had male on one side of pump and female on the other. Really made me scratch my head. If you really think about it, male on the hoses would make more sense. No whipping around and breaking a lever.

@ethankoehler14 @Case_IH I like that the screen is customizable. You can choose which small numbers etc you want to take screen space away from the map. Other than that ag leader is light years ahead of the AFS.

@clintwfischer Spreadsheet worked fine for me for the first decade, but as you grow it will get to be too much for that. I'm on QuickBooks now, albeit an old version from Amazon.

@benjaminaustic Culture has a lot to do with it. My parents had farming relatives but never farmed. I find myself comparing myself to other farmers frequently and thinking "I'm not working hard enough". My in-laws on the other hand are from coal country and can't fathom how much I work

@benjaminaustic But I try to avoid anything unnecessary. If was regularly having to bale on Sunday to beat the rain I'd be evaluating what I was doing. Whether it's sin or not, I don't think I could be a good husband and father not spending morning at church and afternoon with wife and daughter.

@benjaminaustic Zero work on Sunday is impossible. Even in the most conservative circles the men aren't concerned about the women cooking on Sunday. Animals need fed, cows need milked etc. but I don't do any field work. If rain was coming and I had nice hay laying I don't know if it would be sin

@farmingandJesus Our pastor preached through Revelation maybe a year ago without really letting on what his stance was; I'm guessing a-mil. The focus was that Christ is coming back, we should live like he is and glorify and honor him no matter what. I'm not real up on it, but think I'm a-mil too.
