@jerichobrown Barry. hands down and immediate response. anyone? laugh and cringe and laugh at why you cringe? B/C life is really fucked up and we may not be real assassins...but maybe we are??? #weallhideourshit
@NatalieGDiaz We all need you! All the time! In all places! Shout to all the (ex)students who are forever grateful to have had brown, black, trans, queer, disabled leaders in the college classroom. We are better people because of those experiences---signed white cis hetero AND midwesterner
@jerichobrown Miracles occur often
in altered perspectives
of connection.
prayers are just words.
hands are gifts
moving in front of you.
and so write about the hands
instead of the prayers....
regifting the miracle.
@heathervmyers Congrats--I am not affiliated with any UNT poetry aspects. But I write poetry and work in Denton everyday. Texas is...different... but a lot great things happen here and Denton is a true center of artistic creation. Good luck on your journey. Seek out the loveliness of Texas!
Hey @jerichobrown you are a famous poet. If you ever come to Dallas maybe sit down with a completely un-famous guy (like me) and talk about poetry? And writing process? And deep thoughts? and good food? And shopping for books? and music? Iowa City? and cool shoes? Might be fun?
Is "poetry" stuck in a description of the way "things" are? Default to this mechanism or you may find yourself out of the loop? I cannot get away from the thought that poetry that excavates one's mind is the tool that will change "things." Free your mind and your ass will follow.
I have a new fun thing. I attend many minor league baseball games where I live . And I chase down home run balls and other memorabilia and give them back to players. Especially if their first HR or first pitching appearance at this level etc. And damn.. its amazing!
@DGumbiner @jerichobrown pants and words. and shoes. and words and words. leave with the words. when you walk out the door its about the words. its about the words
