I deleted all of my Claude Code skills.
They were making my agent dumber.
Installing skills from random GitHub repos has become the new "npm install."
Think about what you're actually doing. You're downloading someone else's prompt and you don't read a single line of it.
It reads their prompts, extracts the useful parts, and I fold them into my own skills. Their concepts, my workflow.
3. The more skills I have installed, the less I use any of them. I try to keep them organized in one folder, keep them minimal with good reference files

What I do instead:
1. I don't install skill repos. I cherry-pick. If someone's repo has one skill I don't already have, I take that one. The rest I ignore.
2. For skills I already have, I point Claude at their repo and say "what ideas here are worth pulling into mine?"
