Reading @jamesrbuk The Tangled Web We Weave and this passage sums up the publisher ad dilemma. In summary, publishers need to take back control of their data #theozoneproject
1/3 @integralads just ran a neurological study on the impact of the quality of a site on the perception of ads.
It found ads on high quality sites generated a positive reaction & the same ad on a low quality site were actively disliked. Ads on quality sites were 74% more likable
“Overall, in the ICO’s view the adtech industry appears immature in its understanding of data protection requirements....we have general, systemic concerns around the level of compliance of RTB”

5/ There are many challenges that humans will need to overcome in the next century and it is likely that society will look very different if we are to survive. And in the far future what will humans become? Will we merge with machine to wander amongst the stars as something new?
1/ On the Future by Martin Rees
A short primer on the challenges humans will face in the short and long term (decades vs centuries). These challenges include rising populations, climate change and the role of humans as automation and artificial intelligence accelerate #bookreview
4/ A third cause for alarm might be the rate of technological progress in AI and robotics. What sort of intelligence will we create and when will it surpass humans? There is a lot of debate and speculation in this area but no one knows for sure whether this will end well.
The BBC’s #ClimateChangeTheFacts was hugely powerful
But there is hope. Especially since the policies we need to address the #ClimateEmergency are positive policies that would improve our lives in so many ways .....
Which gives me an excuse to share my favourite cartoon 👇
5/ In our current economic models, human labour is a huge cost to business and we tax it accordingly whereas robots are tax deductible. Taxing labour reflects a time when robots didn’t exist. If we want to keep jobs for people we should question the incentives we give business.
1/ Doughnut Economics by Kate Raworth
The Economics that has guided capitalism for the last couple of centuries is no longer fit for purpose to tackle the big problems like climate change and inequality. Seven new economic principles are proposed for the new century

4/ To create a sustainable economy and set us on a new path we will need to rewrite rules that we have lived by for hundreds of years. The role of government needs to be redefined and the unfettered market will need to be controlled as it does not always act in humans interest
