At @WFP, preventing gender-based violence is a top priority. In 2024, we have supported nearly 650,000 women and their families with food assistance, many of whom are facing the harsh realities of war and displacement.
WFP is deeply concerned about the evolving situation in #Lebanon.
We are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the government to understand where people are being displaced so we can respond effectively and in a timely manner.
❗️The region is near breaking point and cannot deal with another war.❗️
War increases the risks and compounds the harms of sexual and gender-based violence.
In #Ukraine, @UNFPA collaborates with @WFPUkraine to distribute food boxes to survivors of gender-based violence and strengthen local response systems.

🔵 21,000 hot meals
🔵 food parcels for 30,000 people
🔵 food cards for 6,000 people
As more families continue to flee to #Armenia for safety, @WFP is ramping up to:
✅ Provide 21,000 hot meals at the border over the next 2 weeks
✅ Assist 30,000 people through emergency food parcels
✅ Support over 6,000 people through food cards
➕ Scale up as needed
Our WFP team in Armenia is on the ground near the border in Goris, Syunik province supporting families fleeing violence. We have already set up tents to provide up to 2,000 hot meals per day and are preparing to scale up assistance swiftly across the country as needed.
Do you know what's half-moon farming? 🌗🥬
In dry regions like #Mauritania, WFP supports communities to dig half moons into the ground.
During the next rain, the water won't run off the surface but soaks into the arid soil, allowing crops to grow. 🌱💚 #WorldWaterWeek
The war has forced countless farmers in #Ukraine to stop producing food, or risk their lives doing so.
@FAO, @WFP & @fsd__ch join forces to support 🇺🇦 de-mining efforts and help farmers return to work.
