Our research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of receptor signaling, particularly trimeric G protein-coupled receptors. We investigate their roles in various physiological contexts, using diverse methods to understand and potentially address related pathological conditions.

🎉 Faculty of Science researchers shine at the @NadaceNeuron Awards! 🏆
Congrats to Prof. Jan Černý for winning the Love for Science Award 🧪✨ and to Klára Hlouchová, Tomáš Pluskal, and Martina Benešová Schäfer for their achievements as promising scientists! 👏
Our first paper of the lab is out!!
While both, VAMP2 and alpha-synuclein have been extensively studied, we reveal a novel, unexpected role for their interaction.

Our student @withdebanjan from @NovotnyLab represented us at the Federation of European Forum Societies (FENS) @FENSorg conference in Vienna with his project: "Exploring the Impact of Ibrutinib on Microglial Inflammation In Vitro". Great job👏👍

Had a great time at #FENS2024 ☀️ Vienna. It has been great to meet and talk with people within same field and also outside of my field. Lot of great poster, plenary sessions and symposium. Amazing experience in sunny Vienna. See you in Madrid 🇪🇸
Finally out! Check out our new paper in Nature Communication 10.1038/s41467-024-49596-0. In this new study, we established that microglia make their own TGF-β1 ligand to maintain brain homeostasis and cognitive function via autocrine signaling mechanism at a single-cell level!
Great success of Pinky Sultana and her co-investigators @MichalPaluba and Alp Yigit Özdemir from @NovotnyLab for receving a GAUK grant for their project: "Investigation of oxidative stress- or amyloid-β-induced senescence in a 3D astrocyte model" 👏 #GAUK#neuroscience#astrocyte
Our new paper is out in @embojournal! We found an answer to a decade-old mystery: to sustain neurotransmission, how can we retrieve synaptic vesicles within 100 ms? The answer lies in a gene that we, bilaterian animals, have created, making synaptic vesicle endocytosis extremely fast.
