I am human.
I am a generalist.
I work in the software industry to provide value to people. My special interests are agile-lean processes and selforganization

Dolphins, whales and tiny fish rely on sound to survive - but life under water has become too loud. This new proposal could turn down the volume and help them, while improving the health of our oceans. Join the call for #BlueSpeeds here: https://t.co/ofBXfq1rxC

Happy Smalltalking

[An old Smalltalker @WebWhoever]

#Smalltalk ! 😎😎😎

[Helge Nowak @nowagil]

Very true!
In general, IMO, "enough code" means "the minimum amount of code that solves my domain problem just good enough". With #Smalltalk the minimum amount is actually minimal. And can be read, understood and adapted easily. Let's you maximize your return sustainably.

[An old Smalltalker @WebWhoever]

@nowagil Quote from Vassili Bykov (when we worked at the same place) but I'm not sure it's his : "Benoît, with enough code, anything's possible!". Indeed, I learned so much from him and saw him do MIRACLES in Smalltalk with the minimum amount of code in VW 2.5 !

[Helge Nowak @nowagil]

quote from a conversation right now: "I chose #Smalltalk because with Smalltalk you can do anything"

[Helge Nowak @nowagil]

@sumim #Smalltalk has a type system, it is dynamically strongly typed
Smalltalk #tools give you more than just syntactic feedback

[Helge Nowak @nowagil]

@davefarley77 given all the above 1/18 to 18/18 you should try #Smalltalk - if you are not using it already anyway 😉

#Smalltalk == simple, strict, powerful, immersive, fun, addictive

[Kai Niklas @kniklas]

@allenholub Allen, you must be a smalltalk developer. That’s the only language I know where developers live the highest coding standards. The code reads like a book. No comments. Methods short, and to the point. Everything baked up with tests.

[Helge Nowak @nowagil]

[Helge Nowak @nowagil]

and, did you know that the first and truly integrated, and bi-directionally hyperlinked, office software suite was built in #Smalltalk: The Analyst (https://t.co/lLYAY7fXOW)

[Torsten Bergmann @TorstenAstares]

Did you know that PowerPoint had its roots also in Smalltalk. Read more:

@flying_madman @michaelabboud @geerlingguy a. fortunately it was only the entertainment system
b. if you'd know the type of airplane you could decide whether or not to board - if you'd be so concerned

Six Impossible Things. Great stuff by @KevlinHenney https://t.co/G2c5oY2YTn
one of my favorites: "software development is actually an exercise in applied philosophy, it's about epistemology" (and much much more)

[Helge Nowak @nowagil]

@michaelabboud @geerlingguy I had the same with WindowsCE, don't remember whether it was a Boeing or Airbus back then

Finished Smalltalk Best Practice Patterns by @KentBeck today. A great style guide for clean code, regardless of what language you are using 👍

[Helge Nowak @nowagil]

@mpweiher This will surely be an interesting talk! But nothing new for #Smalltalk programmers 😉

@Stefan_Schuette Von "Open Business Club" zu "New Work", das sagt doch alles.
Vielleicht bekommt der Begriff "New Work" für deren Mitarbeiter ja bald eine sehr reale Bedeutung... #Xing
