Out of the principles of persuasion: authority, likability, social proof, scarcity, reciprocity, and consistency, which do you think affects you the most? Which one advertises successfully so that you buy the product and become a loyal customer? #UWJ201@sooyunkim_
@lamnguyenjk I think a world without advertising would be beneficial because it would allow for consumers to form their own unbiased, completely natural opinion. However, I do think it would negatively impact the economy, because consumers would be less informed. #uwj201@sooyunkim_
@belleemiranda @ATveleneva In my opinion, likability is the most effective because it causes consumers to form a connection to the brand or product, which in turn makes them create a loyalty to that product to brand being advertised. #uwj201@sooyunkim_
@maxweber23 This is a good idea with good intentions, however I think it will be very mess with the amendment of freedom of speech. I think some people could argue that we are allowed to produce whatever we want, even fake news.Twitter means well, I just do not think it is realistic. #UWJ201
As we saw in the interview examples, clips nowadays are cut and not necessarily accurately representing the full interview. Do you think this is fair to the interviewee,to not be fully represented and maybe have their message skewed by what the network chooses to share? #UWJ201
Do you think negativity bias changes our views of a politician more or our views of the source it is coming from? Or, if it’s so late in the election, do you think it changes our views of society and hope for the future? #UWJ201
@ryan4604 Yes, polarization will only grow because social media platforms facilitate anyone saying what ever they want, even if what they are saying is false. This leads to misinformation, and if social media is only growing, then the spread of misinformation will increase too. #UWJ201
@sydney_popkin If we continue to think this way, everyone will turn against each other. People will become enemies due to political beliefs; the only way we can reach a society which is prosperous and safe is by working together, having open minds, and respecting each others’ beliefs. #uwj201
@DernCharlie In my opinion, the Journal Sentinel is in the wrong; this quote is not a fair representation of what Giannis is actually saying. This gives the public a false perception, and is almost misinforming the public. #UWJ201@sooyunkim_
Today we talked about the general principles of journalism, and holding power accountable was one. Do you think sometimes this principle is taken too far, and journalists destroy reputations of those in power through exaggeration or slanting of information? #uwj201
@dirkse_13 I don’t think it’s fair to the public for a journalist to report something “off the record.” I think doing this keeps the full truth from the public;how can citizens trust information if the source is unclear? How can we trust the accuracy of this information? #uwj201@sooyunkim_
Many late-night show hosts make politics the pit of their jokes; do you think this makes society turn from dealing with the real issues at hand and focus on less important, crucial topics - like entertainment? #UWJ201
@taraodonnellm I completely think that we are beginning to censor our media and our public voices, so we turn to entertainment media instead of politics. Already with our generation, I feel as though we turn to entertainment as a way of hiding from the conflict in politics. #UWJ201@sooyunkim_
@kisting_p Personally, the news I tend to go to is more entertainment. I rely on social media most for news, and I generally follow more celebrity news than political platforms. So, to be politically educated, I have to go to news sources I am less comfortable with. #UWJ201@sooyunkim_
We discussed the difference between political bias and news slant in lecture; which do you think is more prevalent is social media platforms today? Which do you feel our generation is more exposed to? #UWJ201
