Father your word tells us that the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, so we pray for our Christian young people that they will stand firm in their faith in you.

“I cannot imagine a greater motivation to pray than that God enjoys having me in His presence. He enjoys my company. He delights in listening to me! He doesn’t get bored with my repeated requests. There is no rejection, only total acceptance.”

Lord, please comfort children who have been subjected to cruelty and exploitation and set them free from feelings of shame and worthlessness – as well as the painful effects of physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Amen.
“You can pray while you work. Work doesn’t stop prayer & prayer doesn’t stop work. It requires only that small raising of the mind to him: I love you God, I trust you, I believe in you, I need you now. Small things like that. They are wonderful prayers.” Mother Teresa

"A dynamic praying church must be built from the inside out, employing all four levels of prayer: the secret closet, the family altar, small group praying and finally, the congregational setting." Richard Burr

"Through prayer we can carry in our heart all human pain and sorrow, all conflicts and agonies, all torture and war, all hunger, loneliness and misery, not because of some great psychological or emotional capacity, but because God's heart has become one with ours.” Henri Nouwen
“...pray for our country and its rulers, for all rulers of the world… When God’s people unite in this, they may count upon their prayers effecting the unseen world... The prayers that go up to heaven have their share in the history of the earth." Andrew Murray

Our Sheffield Centre of Mission collected over 1000 prayers sticks from those who visited the cross outside the town hall over Holy Week. This week we're been praying for each one of these lolly sticks & asking God to bless those who wrote them.
The second week of advent is traditionally associated with peace. We recognise that the Prince of Peace has come into the world. His coming is the answer to all conflict and we pray for His Government and Peace to increase in London.
