@AaronBastani Most of it is completely compatible with all but the last 10 of the last 45 years... [apart from food sovereignty which has increased in last few years, after being significantly damaged by CAP]
@AaronBastani It's always been the case that Judges have been able to take that it's political violence into account - they should do more of it and treat these nasty violent thugs, who smash police with sledgehammers, as we treat the other nasty violent thugs burning police cars

@Mr_Andrew_Fox@Clainy6 There's also something important, in a democratic society, to both emphasise civilian control of the armed forces and make sure there is a clear split between operational and military decisions and policy ones, which having soldiers as political heads blurs...
@NotThatBigIan I follow Aaron, not because I agree with him, but because he doesn't totally follow the (left) party-line and does have individual takes on things
@John_ForemanCBE Yep, skill sets very different, good ex-military seldom make good politicians - at best they're indifferent in role (Lord West, Alexander of Tunis) at worse they're pretty bad (Wellington as PM)
@WorldOBarry@Johnmcternan My view would be that it should be an annual decision Ministers make, depending on state of economy, public finances, inflation and where pensioners income is compared to general population
@NicholasOShaug1 Of the two toffs, one died a few years later and the other had major mental health issues and spent time in asylum. The three toughs all seem to have pretty fulfilling and succesful lives, with good jobs and happy families.
