Nepal announced ambitious plans earlier (reposting my old thread below), but we were late on execution. Sri Lanka’s approach is straightforward and nomad-friendly.
Here’s what stands out:
• 365-day stay with renewal option
• $500 fee for the first year
• Full remote work allowed
• Run overseas-registered businesses
• Clear income threshold
• Enroll kids in local schools
• Access utilities, rent properties, open bank accounts

Meanwhile, on https://t.co/TSaZTLuiz1, Pokhara ranks #18 globally while Weligama (Sri Lanka’s rising nomad spot) ranks #43. Nepal already has stronger, more affordable destinations.

Nepal can learn from this: simplify rules, add family benefits, lower fees, and launch faster to compete.
